London Bridge

Oh you ophidian of fire
catastrophe and cataclysm
I watch the Thames swallow you down

Oh you venomous viper
crumbling and crustaceous
I row under your flowing arches

You who floods, tips and fires destroy

Eiffel Tower

Like a centurion (or solider or monolith) standing guard over Paris the Eiffel tower protects it's people.  In moonlight the steel shrinks into shadow.  Parisians gaze up in wonder at the giants strength.  Steel girders weave like snakes high in the sky.  It's eye's never flinching staring past the Trocodaro into the horizon. I am the Iron Lady it screams.

The Seinne

The Seinne is a serpent.  It slithers through sandy corridors.  It's scally back shimmers in the sunlight.  Scared seagulls shreek at its sight.  Salty streams stem from it's shelly shores.  Selfishly it slides toward the Sorbonne.

In this descriptive piece the children had to "over alliterate".  It was fun to see how many s sounded words they could use.  I wrote lists for them under verbs, adverbs, adjectives, places in Paris.
